WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO SUPPORT WESTERN BORDER COLLIE RESCUE BY ADOPTING, FOSTERING AND DONATING
Each of the dogs above is one of over 700 successful border collie adoptions created by Western Border Collie Rescue.  Some of those dogs found owners right at the Soldier Hollow Classic, where Western Border Collie is the featured rescue organization.  We invite you to visit them during the event, and to support them throughout the year.  If you are considering getting a border collie, there is no better place to start that their website.  Right now they have about 20 dogs in foster homes loooking for a permanent home.  These dogs have frequently been in their foster homes for weeks to months, receiving training to make them a great candidate for homes like yours.  You'll find out about the dogs strengths and weaknesses (nobody's perfect).  The point is, you'll know what you're getting into.  Western also carefully screens adoptive homes to ensure that they match up the best dog with the best possible home.

Those adopting a dog must submit an adoption application, and, once approved, pay a $175 adoption fee to adopt their dog. The application process is thorough and provides an opportunity for foster families  to talk with the adoption-seeking family. They answer each other's questions, and when it is all done, the foster is the one who gives the final approval for the adoption.  Many adopters stay in touch, become active in the organization, and sometimes become like extended family.

You might also choose to become a foster home.   Foster homes also go through an extensive check to be sure they are well suited and equipped. They are expected to provide all of the care and attention that they would provide to their own dogs including food, water, a safe place to live, a comfy bed, lots of love, and in most cases some training. Western Border Collie Rescue provides for the costs of veterinary care and can assist with some of the basic care expenses.

There are many other ways to get involved.  Some get involved with fund raising, transport, or shelter dog evaluations, and some become adoptive families. While Western Border Collie Rescue has seen a great deal of growth there are still many more dogs than they have room to rescue. They are always looking for new people interested in volunteering, giving the gift of being a foster, or who are looking to adopt. So be sure to visit them at our event or contact them now at:
