Those adopting a dog must submit an adoption application, and, once approved, pay a $175 adoption fee to adopt their dog. The application process is thorough and provides an opportunity for foster families to talk with the adoption-seeking family. They answer each other's questions, and when it is all done, the foster is the one who gives the final approval for the adoption. Many adopters stay in touch, become active in the organization, and sometimes become like extended family.
You might also choose to become a foster home. Foster homes also go through an extensive check to be sure they are well suited and equipped. They are expected to provide all of the care and attention that they would provide to their own dogs including food, water, a safe place to live, a comfy bed, lots of love, and in most cases some training. Western Border Collie Rescue provides for the costs of veterinary care and can assist with some of the basic care expenses.
There are many other ways to get involved. Some get involved with fund raising, transport, or shelter dog evaluations, and some become adoptive families. While Western Border Collie Rescue has seen a great deal of growth there are still many more dogs than they have room to rescue. They are always looking for new people interested in volunteering, giving the gift of being a foster, or who are looking to adopt. So be sure to visit them at our event or contact them now at:
