Four Days of Spectacular Competition and Entertainment are Followed by Equally Impressive Closing Ceremonies
As the last dog runs Monday afternoon (about  5 p.m.) preparations are already underway for our Closing and Medals Ceremonies.  The Salt Lake Scots Bagpipe Band is staging up on the hillside out of sight.  The Ultimate Canines Dog Acrobats are preparing for their frisbee demonstration and Mark Petersen, our event director, is gathering medal winners and making sure that the right flags are ready at the flag poles.  In the tradition of the 2002 Olympics, Soldier Hollow celebrates the awarding of it's medals as an event in it's self.  It begins with an ultimate frisbee performance by Tom Clements and his award winning dogs.  Then the audience hears bagpipe music coming from Soldier Hollow's hills following by the site of the full Salt Lake Scots Bagpipe Band marching over the hilltop and down the mountainside.  Many spectators report that this moment actually brings tears to their eyes, and  all will find it impressive.  It is followed by the awarding of medals on Soldier Hollows Olympic Medals stands and the raising of the winners respective flags while the National Anthem of the Gold Medalist is played.  In it's first eight years anthems have been played for Scotland, the United States and Canada, though representatives of 16 countries to date have competed.
