Glen, Jenny – SHORTY

Shorty, a 4-years old, male, was born and bred in Alabama, but his father (Alta-Pete Dave) was a dog Jenny and Scot bred at their kennel, and he goes back to a long line of some of Jenny’s favorite dogs.  They were supposed to get Shorty as a pup but couldn’t travel because of Covid’ so his breeder kept him for his first year. He isn’t keen on strangers and, when they picked him up and drove straight to our next trial,  it was all very worrisome for him. When they got to the trial and Jenny took him for a walk, he attached himself to her immediately and decided Jenny was his person.  His breeder had called him Mick but, for some reason, Jenny couldn’t remember his name and just kept calling him Shorty -for obvious reasons (he’s a little guy). The new name stuck. Last year, as a 3 year old, Jenny started running Shorty in open trials and he wasn’t quite ready for it.  They struggled and when they went to the Hotchkiss trial in Colorado, Jenny says his first run was horrible because he wasn’t a “team player.”  The next day, Jenny decided to just slow everything down and just try to make Shorty do everything right.  At the end of the day,  Shorty won the class!  “He’s a plucky little guy!”
