Description
Tom is a 6-year old male and goes back to Lyle’s great dog, Cap. He is smart and a willing learner. He also loves kids (which isn’t necessarily true for all border collies) as well as attention and playing ball. Tom lost some valuable trial time when he broke his back right leg but everything has healed and he is ready to trial and tackle the Soldier Hollow hill.
Lyle lives in Mecosta, Michigan with her husband, Matt, 10 border collies, and a cat named Walter (who believes he is a dog.) Lyle got started with border collies when she bought her “dream farm,” and needed hep with animal management. Although she got Jock for farm work, when she was told about a nearby trial, she went and was hooked, and the journey began. Lyle started training and trialing, taking her two kids with her all over the U.S., and going twice to Yorkshire England with her daughter to work on a sheep farm. Lyle feels lucky that she was able to stay home and train dogs for a full-time job that allowed her to also stay involved in her kid’s sporting competitions, and they helped with the sheep and kennel. Lyle has successfully trailed all of the US, winning the Bluegrass Classic with her great dog Cap three times in a row and the National Nursery Finals with “Lucky” (aka “Kita” when Carol bought her from Lyle.) Lyle has also judged numerous trials, including the National Finals (twice) and Soldier Hollow (twice, most recently in 2022). Lyle is now “retired,” training only one or two outside dogs and her own pups. In the evenings, she likes to do wood carving and read.
