Rum is 2.5-year-old homegrown female that the Butlers proudly raised. Her sire, Braehead Glen is a dog that was trained and purchased from James McGee that James has had quite a bit of success with. This is Rum’s first year trialing and she has already moved up the ranks in their young dogs. James love the mind that she has and her natural ability to get in that pocket of stock. She’s a fun dog to run and one that you tend to not be able to take your eyes off.
James was born and raised in the Pineywoods of East Texas, and now calls Center, Texas home. James always had a love for border collies growing up, and when he had started their registered angus herd, he began looking into getting some help on the farm. He and his wife started watching videos of these big sheepdog trials overseas and were just amazed by what these dogs were capable of doing! Though they started in the cattle dog trials, they have always respected and loved the sheepdog world and the challenges it brings. James and his wife went and watched the Meeker Sheepdog Classic back in 2022 and he knew then that he wanted to be a competitor. In 2023, he entered for the first time and made it to the semi-final round. Since then, James was hooked and is very excited to be competing in my first ever Soldier Hollow Classic! When not working dogs, James raises Whitetail deer and still a few head of cattle and sheep.
