Description
Tru is a 5-year old female that Christine purchased in June 2022. She is out of Aled Owen’s Cap and Alf Kyme’s Annie (both from “across the pond.”) The two bonded immediately as a partnership and, less than one month after getting her, Tru was 3rd out of 90 dogs at the Fetch Gate Farm trial. The two have a great relationship on and off the field. Christine says that Tru is one of the best dogs she has ever owned. She is incredibly biddable and will work her heart out for her. Tru is a littermate to Bev Lambert’s Annie (also running here at Soldier Hollow). In their first full year of trialing together, Tru has well exceeded all of Christine’s expectations, winning both open classes and the 2023 Fall Foliage, was the 2022 NEBA (Northeast Border Collie Assoc.) Annual High Points Open Champion, and the 2023 Pennsylvania State Champion.
Christine comes to us from Housatonic, Massachusetts. Her first dog was an English Shepherd. When he passed away, she researched intelligent dogs and found out about the Border Collie. She attended a sheepdog trial in 1998 as a spectator, and “that was it” for her! She purchased her first Border Collie puppy, Rook, in March 1999 and has been “devoted to these phenomenal dogs and the sport ever since.” Her dogs, in turn, have taken her to a number of wins and double lift finals and to the USBCHA National Open or Nursery Finals every year since 2002. As Christine describes her journey: “The wonderful people we meet along this journey have become the most amazing friends, and that is truly special.”
