Butler – JESS

Description

Jess is a young female out of dog called JM Jesse and a female called Ruby that Jeanne Bulkley owns. James says that she is  probably one of the most talented dogs he has ever own. A week after her two-year-old birthday (October 2024), she won both the USBCHA Open and Nursery National Cattledog Championships. She’s the type of dog that gives you everything that she has, 100% of the time with a big giant motor. She’s great on cattle and sheep, and is honestly the biggest goofball out of them all!

James was born and raised in the Pineywoods of East Texas, and now calls Center, Texas home. James always had a love for border collies growing up, and when he had started their registered angus herd, he began looking into getting some help on the farm. He and his wife started watching videos of these big sheepdog trials overseas and were just amazed by what these dogs were capable of doing! Though they started in the cattle dog trials, they have always respected and loved the sheepdog world and the challenges it brings. James and his wife went and watched the Meeker Sheepdog Classic back in 2022 and he knew then that he wanted to be a competitor. In 2023, he entered for the first time and made it to the semi-final round. Since then, James was hooked and is very excited to be competing in my first ever Soldier Hollow Classic! When I’m not working dogs, I’m raising Whitetail deer and still a few head of cattle and sheep.
