Description
Butch, 2 years old, is smart and biddable and “punches above his weight every time he goes to the post.” Jenny had a good and special dog named Grit who died at 6 years old. She was heartbroken. A couple months later, she saw a 5 month old pup for sale on the internet who not only looked like Grit, but whose grandmother was a littermate to Grit. She bought him on impulse and named him Butch. She didn’t know if he would be any good, but just wanted him to heal her. Butch was a quick learner and started to run in nursery classes when he was a year and a half old. Within a couple months, she moved him to open and he was successfully running open classes before he was two years old. The impulse buy was the best buy she has ever made.
Jenny started in herding about 23 years ago with an instinct test for her German Shepherd. She took classes with her shepherd but soon learned that to trial at high level, she needed a border collie and bought her first one in 2000. She has definitely reached that higher level, having been Reserve Champion in the Calgary Stampede, Reserve Canadian Nursery Champion, and Table Top Champion. Jenny used to train animals for film and television. She has raised seven service dogs and was a vet tech for 12 years. She now lives in Alberta with her husband, Scott (also trialing here), and where she is the Kennel Manager for Alta-Pete Stockdogs.
