Description
Star is a 10-year-old, black & white, female, born and raised in Wyoming. Star easily transitioned from ranch dog to city dog when Marianna purchased her from Joni Tietjen in 2019. She enjoys both roles equally. Star has an easy-going personality off sheep but changes into a pushy, take-charge type of dog when she works sheep. Star’s natural talent makes working her on sheep a pleasure. Her sire is Rob previously owned by Joni Tietjen, then Allison Jarrad. Rob goes back to Bobby Henderson’s Spot. Star was 3rd place in the 2023 Bluegrass Classic and 3rd in the 2023 USBCHA National Championships, earning her a spot on the 2023 US World Trial team, which won the Bronze Medal Team Award.
Marianna was introduced to Border Collies by her mother, Nancy Schreeder, in 1999, competing in her first trial in 2002. She recalls saying to her friends, “I’ll never trial my dogs, I only want to work them on the farm.” Fate had other plans. After starting her first border collie, she was “hooked.” She had the benefit of working with one of her mother’s retired dogs and learned a lot by working with that dog. She credits learning much from her mother both on and off the field. Marianna now lives and trains her border collies just outside of Atlanta. She has been incredibly successful with her dogs, earning a spot on the 2023 World Trial Team that won the Bronze Metal Team Award. Marianna is the President of the Kentucky Border Collie Association which puts on the prestigious “Bluegrass Classic” in Lexington Kentucky, held May 14-18. She recently retired as Treasurer for the United States Border Collie Association; a position held for over 10 years. In addition to these volunteer positions, I own a property management company which specializes in low-income housing apartments.
