Applegate, Suzy – BEN

Ben, a 4- year old, is a pup she raised.  She picked him on day 1, due to his markings being so much like his grandsire, Buzz. He is a big,  60 pound dog.  Ben placed 5th in the  2023 Nursery Finals in Colorado and was 3rd in Trailing of the Sheep Double Final last Oct., his first Double lift competition. Suzy really enjoys running him at trials as he is such a great combination of talents, and a very lovable dog – her “heart dog.”  Suzy is looking forward to running him at the 2025 Finals in Alturas.

A breeder, trainer, and handler, Suzy is an important player in all facets of the sheepdog world. Suzy has been described as a formidable competitor and she qualified for this year’s Soldier Hollow Classic by winning the Trailing of the Sheep Championship. She is a two-time USBCHA National Nursery Champion, a Meeker Champion and a finalist in the USBCHA National Finals as well as here at Soldier Hollow. Suzy is also a respected Judge, having judged the National Finals on two occasions.
