Butch, a 3-year-old black and white freckled rough coat, came into Jenny’s life at 5 months old after the unexpected loss of her trial dog Grit. An impulse purchase that turned into the perfect partnership, Butch has been a high achiever since he was a year and a half old, making the double lift at major competitions including the Canadian Championship, Hilltop Championship, Soldier Hollow Championship, and the 2025 National Finals where he placed 11th. At home, Butch officially sleeps on the floor next to Jenny’s side of the bed but if Scott is not home, he can be found sleeping on Scott’s side of the bed on his back with his pillow as his headrest.
Jenny’s journey with dogs began as a Los Angeles teenager raising Guide Dogs for the Blind puppies, leading to 12 years as a veterinary technician and training animals for movies and television. Twenty-six years ago, she discovered her passion for herding and has been working border collies ever since. After meeting her husband Scott at a dog trial, she moved to Canada to manage Alta-Pete Stockdogs. Her achievements include reserve Calgary Stampede Champion, reserve Canadian Nursery Champion, reserve North Carolina State Champion, and Tabletop Double Lift Champion.
