Description

Carol and Ben are “true locals,” living just 3 miles from Soldier Hollow in Charleston, Utah.  Ben, a handsome 6-year old border collie, is an affection and devoted dog — demanding couch time when Carol has her morning coffee. Carol got Ben last spring as a trained dog and ran here successfully last year.  He is a willing partner that Carol says undoubtedly knows better what to do than she does.

Carol is our Competition Manager and, along with our Festival Manager, Judy Klautt, are the operators of the Soldier Hollow Classic.  Carol comes from a horse background, beginning with show horses and ending up doing a bit of barrel racing and team roping when she lived in Tetonia, Idaho..  Carol thought sheepdogs might be a bit more “accessible” than horses as they fit in her SUV, but that was before she realized she needed her own sheep.  Carol and her husband, Steve, moved to Charleston 12 years ago to accommodate the new hobby and now have a small flock of sheep and 4 border collies.
