Description
Rock is a 2 year old who has been running in the nursery class this year for dogs under three years old. On a hunch, his owner, Scott, decided to move him up and start running him in the open class this past March. The idea was just to get some experience for him but every time he walks to the post he runs better and better and he and Scott have become a close team. Scott decided that even though he is young, he deserves a chance to get to try the challenging Soldier Hollow hill and sheep. Rock’s grandfather, Don was a two time National champion and a silver medalist at Soldier Hollow.
Scott grew up on a cattle farm and decided to branch out to sheep. He needed to know how to shear them so he went to a seminar but on the way saw a sheepdog demonstration and was hooked. That was about 40 years ago. During his journey, Scott has won Soldier Hollow, The Bluegrass Classic, Meeker, the Canadian Championships, and the USBCHA National Finals 7 times. Scott was also 3rd in the 2023 World trial in Ireland and was inducted into the ABCA Hall of Fame in September 2023 along with his great dog, Alice. Scott trains dogs to herd sheep and gives clinics and lessons all over North America. Every now and then, he also picks up a golf club.
