Description
The 2026 Meeker Reserve Champion, Mona is a 5-year-old female by Dillon out of Ruby. She is a very cool-headed dog and a team player. She has really blossomed this year (2025/2026) and has become a very strong competitor at large trials. The 2025 Meeker reserve is Fernando’s highest placing. Mona has great stamina, reads her sheep well, and also has great feel for sheep. Mona loves to be around people and show off her famous “mustache” — people have nicknamed her “Mustache Mona!”
Fernando Liola-Alvez lives in Arlington, Washington and started with sheepdogs in 1996, attending many clinics in Brazil along with working on large sheep and cattle ranches. He was the 2025 Meeker Reserve Champion with Mona and at the 2021 USBCHA Finals was awarded Best Pen with Josh. Fernando raises sheep for training and trains border collies for farmers and trial. When he’s not working with his dogs, he and his wife like to go out to nice restaurants.
