Description
Gary is a 3-year-old male bred by Fernando out of Josh and Kemi Maid. Gary is a very calm and intense dog with great stamina who spots sheep well, listens well, is a team player, and has great feel for his sheep. He has been the best consistent scorer of any of Fernando’s dogs since the age of 1½ years old. He placed in all of his nursery trials and has not scored less than an 80 in any of his open trials. This is his first full year in Open and so far he has over 50 points towards the 2026 USBCHA Finals in only 5 trials. He is also the only dog Fernando has competed with that got a perfect drive score on Range Ewes at Carbondale Strang Ranch Spring Trial. This dog is fun to trial and Fernando looks forward to many fun years with him.
Fernando Liola-Alvez lives in Arlington, Washington and started with sheepdogs in 1996, attending many clinics in Brazil along with working on large sheep and cattle ranches. He was the 2025 Meeker Reserve Champion with Mona and at the 2021 USBCHA Finals was awarded Best Pen with Josh. Fernando raises sheep for training and trains border collies for farmers and trial. When he’s not working with his dogs, he and his wife like to go out to nice restaurants.
