Description
Brenna got Cap back in 2021. Cap is now 6 years old and recently won 2 Texas open trials. Cap is about as loyal as a dog can be, even crossing over a flooded lake bottom with Brenna in a kayak to pen their sheep! When he’s not focused on Brenna, he is intently working the sheep. Brenna has learned when to let his instincts take over and has come to rely on them heavily. He is the best teammate she could ask for!
Brenna lives in a small town in the Panhandle of Texas. Her family runs about 600 head of mixed Dorper sheep on their farm. Six years ago, when her family got into the sheep business, Brenna received her first Border Collie, Babe, to help on the farm. She was 14 when friends and family encouraged her to enter some trials. She won her first trial with Babe and has loved trialing ever since. Now 19, Brenna has trialed with her dog Cap in the Open class for the last 3 years. She has placed 20 times in the top 10 while competing in Open and has qualified for 4 Double Lifts, finishing 4th in her last one at the Texas Finals. She had the opportunity to go to the Kentucky Bluegrass Classic for the first time last year, met lots of new people, had a wonderful time, and was thrilled to qualify for the Double Lift there. This September, Brenna and Cap will be participating in the World Sheepdog Trial in Scotland as part of the USA’s Young Handlers Team.
